It’s not Over Till it’s Over
By Lisa Bruce

I always have mixed emotions when the school year starts to head into the final weeks. I look forward to summer with great anticipation, but I know that after just a couple of weeks, I will miss the children and the excitement they bring with them to school each day.

It is truly amazing to watch the incredible physical, social, and emotional changes that occur during the school year. During the past few weeks the fifth grade students have started to look like sixth graders, and the eighth grade students appear ready to enter high school. At least from my viewpoint, it is amazing.

I am sure you have heard the saying, “It’s not over, till it’s over,” and that sums up how we feel at the middle school. From field days to class plays, school trips and awards day, somehow we still find plenty of time to have “school.” Our day still begins at 7:45 with teachers ready to impart instruction to their students. This is the business of school and it will not end, “till it’s over.”

I love the concept of finishing strong. I used that saying a lot when I coached. Sometimes the finish is what a person will remember from the journey. We will be encouraging all of our students to work to the best of their ability to the very end, and I hope you will partner with us in that effort.

Summer gives us the opportunity to relax and be refreshed. It also gives our students time to learn new skills and master those that seemed difficult during the school year. Taking a class or participating in tutoring can really help a child feel successful when the new school year begins in August.

The following link will provide you with some information about classes offered this summer that we feel are beneficial for our students: Summer Offerings
